Elder Mountain

Elder Mountain

Smaller than its two sisters Mountains Lookout and Signal.

Welcome to Elder Mountain

Elder Mountain is smaller than its two sister Mountains Lookout and Signal. It sits right between the two!

Elder Mountain enjoys an unobstructed view east, over the Tennessee River to downtown Chattanooga. The neighborhood is nestled between the enormous Prentice Cooper State Park and the famed Tennessee River Gorge, known locally as the Grand Canyon of the East.

Since you have to cross the Tennessee River to get to Elder Mountain the commute to downtown is longer than it looks - generally about 20 minutes. But once you are on top of the Mountain you are a world away! Access to Raccoon Mountain recreation area is nearby as is Prentice Cooper and the Tennessee River Gorge. There are - literally - hundreds of miles of hiking and back packing right out your front door.

There are few amenities on Elder Mountain; it is primarily a small neighborhood of homes. Shopping and groceries are strictly "off mountain". It is a beautiful area, however, with a nice selection of mostly high end homes.
